Welcome to Y'allternative Pottery!

Addyson Aftanas is a multidisciplinary artist based in Appalachia, working in ceramics, textiles, wood, and mixed media sculpture. Her practice largely centers around memory, ecological grief, and the complex relationships between humans and animals. Using materials like fur, bone, and clay, she creates objects that serve as memorials and altars - honoring what’s been lost, overlooked, and taken for granted.

She is currently completing her BFA in Visual Arts at Marshall University and was a 2025 artist in residence at Chautauqua School of Art. Her work has been recognized with multiple awards and has been exhibited in both regional and national juried exhibitions.
